    MATTERS OF SECURITY OFF CAMPUS

    There was a meeting held today Saturday October 3rd 2020 at the Council Hall, Ikot Osurua where the Students Union Government executives, representative of the D.P.O, Ikot Ekpene Division, Village Heads and Youth Presidents of the host communities where they met to chart a way forward in combating the present security challenge experienced by students. 

    At the end the of the meeting, the following were agreed and subsequently adopted. They include:

    1. A stronger vigilante apparatus be set up and a financial obligation of #50 per head in any lodge to enable them to carry out their operations effectively. This means that each person living per room is to pay the amount and give it to the caretaker which is subsequently paid to the village council. 

    2. The Students Union Government agreed to work with the security apparatus and caution the students on good conduct too. 

    3. The Village heads and the youth leaders also seeked the support of the Chairman, Ikot Ekpene LGA, School management, police and other well meaning individuals in the fight against insecurity. 

    4. A fixed time on restriction of movement of students to be communicated across to the union and students through respective means. Any defaulter will face severe punishment. 
     
    5. The Village heads and the Youth Presidents pleaded the union to advice the student to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations which will be sent across to all resident of the lodges residing in the host communities.
