  • Benue Poly: Clarification on Difficulty Being Experienced on NYSC Dashboard

  •    The management of Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, this afternoon held a crucial meeting with the Students Union Executive Members and the representatives of the  HND Classes.

In his address, the Rector, Dr. Usman David Kuti expressed delight for the interactive session inspite of the short notice, but that the meeting was necessary to close the seeming gap in communication.

Dr Kuti said he found it necessary to clarify the issue surrounding the rumour being peddled, to the dismay of the management, that Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo has been suspended for five years from NYSC, hence, the non inclusion of Benpoly graduates in the ongoing batch B NYSC exercise.

The precursors of the rumour, the Rector advised should desist henceforth and direct their energy towards assisting management to succeed, instead of brewing and fanning embers of
Violence to cause instability and breach of peace.

He added that NYSC does not charge fees for mobilization in any Institution in Nigeria, hence the rumour is unfounded and baseless as the present hitch or challenge being experienced is administrative , and has attracted Management's attention and is already being addressed.

Dr. Kuti appealed to students to remain calm while management engages the NYSC Secretariat with a view to finding an enduring positive solution soonest.

Others who spoke included the Registrar, Bar. John Ejeh and the Bursar, Peter Iorshe who appealed for calm as the issue was already being addressed.  A circular from the office of the Registrar, this afternoon, for further clarification and enlightenment was issued in this Respect.

The SUG president, Comrade Oheitonye G Frey Oldfly , and a cross section of the HND Class representatives expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting and pledged their commitment to ensuring a peaceful, and convivial environment for academic pursuit.

This meeting, in a related development afforded Management and Students the opportunity to interface on other key issues of mutual benefits even as the first semester exams are ongoing.

           Great Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo.
